AeroVision Canada Inc. – Documentation & UAV Flight Safety
Over the last few months, AVCI has produced what we feel are essential documents that govern how we conduct business and manage all of the flight safety aspects of being an aviation operation. I am very proud of the effort put forward by our team both in house and from external sources such as vendors and contractors.
Below is a list of the recently released documents and a brief highlight of what they mean to us:
(Business) Operations Manual
This Operations Manual (OM) reflects the business operating and quality philosophy, policies and procedures applicable to AeroVision Canada Inc. (AVCI).
Flight Operations Manual
This Flight Operations Manual (FOM) and the procedures described within, shall guide AeroVision Canada Inc. personnel and staff including Instructors, Trainees, Maintenance, Operations, Administrative, and all other third party personnel while executing flight operations at AeroVision Canada Inc. It is accepted that the contents of this document do not override the necessity of reviewing and complying appropriately with any new or amended regulations published by Transport Canada.This manual has been developed by AeroVision Canada Inc., hereafter referred to as AVCI, for the operation of Unmanned Aerial Systems, hereafter referred to as (UAS) for the purpose of:
· Aerial Photography and Videography for Commercial Applications;
· Operator Training;
· Product Demonstrations; and
· Research and Development
This manual is also intended to promote safe, efficient and lawful operation of AVCI’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Safety, above all, is the primary concern in each and every operation, regardless of the nature of the mission.
Maintenance Control & Procedures Manual
This Maintenance Control & Procedures Manual (MCPM) shall guide AeroVision Canada Inc. personnel and staff including Instructors, Trainees, Maintenance, Operations, Administrative, and all other third party personnel while executing maintenance operations at AVCI. It is accepted that the contents of this document do not override the necessity of reviewing and complying appropriately with any new or amended regulations published by Transport Canada.
Environment, Health & Safety Manual
AeroVision Canada Inc. is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment to all staff, contractors and visitors. Furthermore, protection of the environment and conservation best practices mean that AVCI is committed to the following goals:
· Meet and/or exceed all environmental, health and safety legislation, regulation and corporate policies which AVCI subscribes too,
· Prevent waste of energy and resources in the course of conducting business,
· Prevent workplace injuries and illnesses,
· Continually improve on the policies set forth in the EH&S Manual
· Maintain and foster an open line of communication between AVCI staff, contractors, vendors and clients with respect to EH&S,
· Provide recurrent training of EH&S policies and day to day best practices
While there is still much to be done, we believe the effort involved in writing our own documentation has allowed us to take the microscope so-to-say and look deeper into our company, what it stands for and how it chooses to operate both practically and ethically. We continue to develop new measures that will support our staff and other related third parties in the conduct of commercial UAV operations and look forward to such goals as receiving an ISO 9001:2015 certification in Q1 of 2017.
